Cris Jacobs had the top album (One of These Days<\/em>) on folk radio during May 2024, while Stella Prince\u2019s \u201cDear Future Me\u201d was the most-played song and Bob Dylan was the month\u2019s most-played artist. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.<\/p>\n

\"CrisA Baltimore, Maryland-based singer-songwriter, Jacobs also had the most-played album on folk radio in April. The music on One of These Days<\/em> is rooted in bluegrass, folk and blues. Produced by Jerry Douglas (an acclaimed Dobro player and winner of 16 Grammy Awards), the 11-track album was recorded live and features Jacobs\u2019 friends The Infamous Stringdusters as his backing band. Also lending their talents to the recording are Sam Bush, Billy Strings, Lee Ann Womack, The McCrary Sisters, Lindsay Lou, and more.<\/p>\n

Stella Prince\u2019s Dear Future Me,\u201d is the title track of a five-song EP that the up-and-coming, Nashville, Tennessee-based singer-songwriter released in April. Prince describes her sound as \u201cGen Z Folk\u201d and aims to help bring folk music to a new generation, although her music has also been getting considerable play on Americana and alt country radio. She was the youngest performer at this year\u2019s Tin Pan South festival, has performed for a full house at Nashville\u2019s famed Bluebird Caf\u00e9, showcased her talents at Your Roots Are Showing -Ireland\u2019s Folk Conference, and reportedly played a sold out tour of the UK. <\/p>\n
