Eliza Gilkyson was the most-played artist, while her album Home<\/em> tied with The Scooches\u2019 Lift You Up as the top album on folk radio during July 2023 and Bob and Sarah Amos\u2019 \u201cThe Hills That I Call Home\u201d was the month\u2019s most-played song. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.<\/p>\n

Gilkyson, who was also the most played artist and had the top album on folk radio in June, is a widely acclaimed Taos, New Mexico-based folk, Americana and roots country singer-songwriter. She is a member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame and the Austin Songwriter Hall of Fame and was named Songwriter of the Year (2014) and honored for \u201cSong of the Year\u201d (2021) during the International Folk Music Awards presented by Folk Alliance International. Her latest release Home<\/em> features songs that reflect her appreciation for family, home and hearth in these times. <\/p>\n

The Scooches — led by bandleader, composer and multi-instrumentalist Nick Russo and vocalist, composer and guitarist Betina Hershey — is an eclectic, genre-bending, New York City-based group whose original music is inspired by world folk traditions, global Americana, New Orleans verve, and the unfettered exuberance of the 1920s. Lift You Up<\/em>, The Scooches\u2019 third full-length album, is a collection of 12 songs inspired by the current social climate in the U.S. <\/p>\n

Bob and Sarah Amos is a father-daughter, Americana harmony duo who also perform with a full band. Although he writes songs in many different styles, Bob Amos is best known in bluegrass circles for having formerly fronted the band Front Range for 15 years and having songs recorded by other major acts in the genre. Vocalist Sarah Amos has been singing professionally for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
