(Photo: Dan Schram\/IBMA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>The coveted Entertainer of the Year Award, the top honor in the 30th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards \u2013 presented Sept. 26, 2019 at Raleigh, North Carolina\u2019s Duke Energy Center for the Arts \u2013 went to Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers, a five-member band that also serves as hosts of the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festivals that are held twice annually.<\/p>\n

“We are so thankful and a little overwhelmed,” says Joe Mullins, the bandleader and banjo player. “To be included in the Entertainer of the Year category alongside some of our heroes and bands we’re huge fans of, was very humbling. To receive the award from our peers provides us with great encouragement and inspiration. What a wonderful blessing!”<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s Song of the Year winners for \u201cIf I\u2019d Have Wrote That Song\u201d and 2012 IBMA Emerging Artists of the Year, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers also shared the 2019 award for Collaborative Recording of the Year with guest artist, Grand Ole Opry member and nine-time IBMA Entertainer of the Year Del McCoury for \u201cThe Guitar Song.\u201d The Del McCoury Band took home the award for Album of the Year for Del McCoury Still Sings Bluegrass<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Joining the group as first-time winners in their respective categories were Sister Sadie (Vocal Group of the Year), Billy Strings (Guitar Player of the Year and New Artist of he Year) and Alan Bibey (Mandolin Player of the Year).<\/p>\n

The complete list of award winners in 17 categories voted on by IBMA\u2019s professional members follows:<\/p>\n

Entertainer of the Year<\/strong>: Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers
\nVocal Group of the Year<\/strong>: Sister Sadie
\nInstrumental Group of the Year<\/strong>: Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper (its fifth win in his category)
\nSong of the Year<\/strong>: \u201cThunder Dan\u201d \u2013 Sideline (artist), Josh Manning (writer), Tim Surrett (producer), Mountain Home Music Company (label)
\n\"DelAlbum of the Year<\/strong>: Del McCoury Still Sings Bluegrass \u2013 Del McCoury Band (artist), Del and Ronnie McCoury (producers), McCoury Music (label). This marks the band\u2019s second win in this category.
\nGospel Recording of the Year<\/strong>: \u201cGonna Sing, Gonna Shout\u201d \u2013 Claire Lynch (artist), Jerry Salley (producer), Billy Blue Records (label)
\nInstrumental Recording of the Year<\/strong>: \u201cDarlin\u2019 Pal(s) of Mine\u201d \u2013 Missy Raines with Alison Brown, Mike Bub, and Todd Phillips (artist), Alison Brown (producer), Compass Records (label)
\nNew Artist of the Year<\/strong>: Billy Strings
\nCollaborative Recording of the Year<\/strong>: \u201cThe Guitar Song\u201d \u2013 Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers with Del McCoury (artists), Joe Mullins (producer), Jerry Salley (associate producer), Billy Blue (label)
\nFemale Vocalist of the Year<\/strong>: Brooke Aldridge (her third win in this category)
\nMale Vocalist of the Year<\/strong>: Russell Moore (his sixth win in this category)
\nBanjo Player of the Year<\/strong>: Kristin Scott Benson (her fifth win in this category)
\nBass Player of the Year<\/strong>: Missy Raines (her eighth win in this category)
\nResophonic Guitar Player of the Year<\/strong>: Phil Leadbetter (his third win in this category)
\nFiddle Player of the Year<\/strong>: Michael Cleveland (his 12th win in this category)
\nGuitar Player of the Year<\/strong>: Billy Strings
\nMandolin Player of the Year<\/strong>: Alan Bibey<\/p>\n

\nWriter of the Year<\/strong>: David Morris
\nSongwriter of the Year<\/strong>: Jerry Salley
\nSound Engineer of the Year<\/strong>: Ben Surratt
\nDistinguished Achievement Awards<\/strong>: Katy Daley, Mickey Gamble, Dan Hays, Allen Mills, and Moonshiner<\/p>\n

In addition, Mike Auldridge, Bill Emerson and The Kentucky Colonels were formally inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame during the awards ceremony that was co-hosted by McCoury and Jim Lauderdale.<\/p>\n

The International Bluegrass Music Awards Show was a centerpiece of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)\u2019s annual five-day World of bluegrass, the genre\u2019s annual industry gathering and family reunion. Held in Raleigh for the seventh consecutive year, World of Bluegrass also featured a wide array of professional development seminars, meetings and forums, artist showcases and late-night hospitality functions, an exhibit hall, plenty of networking and relationship-building opportunities, and the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
